VICKERS, JUDY LYNN, of Waterford, passed away November 9, 2019 at 71 years of age. Born November 10, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late Ray and Mary Morris and daughter-in-law to the late Edward and Margaret Vickers; beloved wife, and high school sweetheart of Jim Vickers for 51 years; loving mother of Julie (Todd) Maynard, Jamie (Jeff) Martin, and Jimmy (Chuck) Vickers-Knight; proud grandmother of Jenna and Jake Martin; dearest sister of Janet (Frank) Roldan and JoAnn (Terry) Kannegieter; cherished aunt of Brad (Amanda), Carissa, Jessica, Tricia (Jason) and Ryan (Julie) and great aunt of Sadie; deeply missed by many cousins and friends. One of Judy's favorite memories growing up was driving her younger sister around in their dad's 1957 Chevy. In her early years, growing up in Flint, she spent a lot of time with the 4-H club, designing/sewing her own clothes, dancing and playing outdoors all day with her sisters and the neighbor kids. Judy was a very involved and active member of her community. She spent 40+ years as a member/officer of the Lake Oakland Heights Association Ladies Auxiliary and was an active member All Saints Episcopal Church. Also, she was a Girl Scout leader. Judy fiercely loved her family and would do anything for anyone. Friends of her kids became family as well. The hobbies she enjoyed most were traveling with family all over the U.S., watching her kids and grandkids play sports as well as watching 2 generations march in the Waterford Mott Marching Band, she LOVED music and going to live concerts such as The Beatles, Elvis, U2, Prince, Bob Seger, Jimmy Buffet, and Kenny Chesney to name a few. She spent most of her summers at LOHA beach with family and friends. Once Judy and Jim retired, they spent a lot of time down in Florida where they found a great community of friends. Her last few years on the southern coast were spent watching sunsets, riding in the golf cart, attending fun parties, and playing bingo and bunco.Another thing you might not know about Judy, is she loved visiting the "honky tonks" of Nashville, each time she went to see Jimmy and Chuck. She also found the time to read romance novels, do crossword puzzles and to watch her "shows" and hangout with her beloved grandchildren; she was a generous gift giver; life of the party; and never wanted anything for herself, only for others.She fought hard through kidney failure as a dialysis patient for 8 years but she was determined with her family's help that she wasn't going to miss out on life with her whole family and watching her grandchildren grow up. Just this year, as her health failed she was able to take a cruise with her entire extended family, welcome a new baby to the family, watch her son get married, and celebrate birthdays in the weeks preceding her death. She fought a long, hard fight. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11 AM at ALL SAINTS EPISCOPAL CHURCH-PONTIAC (171 W Pike St.). Instate 10 AM. Family will receive friends Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 3-9 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD (3141 Sashabaw). Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery, Waterford at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to be made to: Canterbury-on-the-Lake's Good Samaritan Fund.
