Joy Ann
(Wallace) King
Feb 23, 1947 — Feb 17, 2024
Joy Ann King, age 76, of Waterford, passed away on February 17th, 2024. Daughter of the late George and Eugenia Wallace. Joy married her late husband, Elvin King, on December 1st, 1973, and spent 32 loving years together. She is survived by her brother George (Lise) Wallace Jr; nephews Brian (Theresa) Trazfer and Bob Trazfer whom she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her favorite sister Linda (Brian) Trafzer. Joy graduated from Waterford Kettering high school in 1965. She loved living in Waterford around all the lakes and participating in events at the Waterford Senior Center. She spent 25 years of her life working for the State of Michigan assisting the disenfranchised and trying to make a difference in their lives. Joy recently became Catholic and a member at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Father Le Vodivodi of Holy Family Catholic church administered the holy sacraments of healing, reconciliation, confirmation and the Eucharist during her stay in Genesys hospital. Joy shared with us that she experienced great peace, joy and felt truly loved by Jesus and was very grateful to Father Le for bringing her the sacraments and reminding her to never be afraid, Jesus is always right there with each of us. Those of us who were lucky enough to know Joy knew she was a social butterfly who enjoyed attending parties and loved picnics. She also loved wildlife, especially cats and "Roddy" the golden retriever who would visit her while at The Oaks at Woodfield assisted living. Joy had a special place in her heart for her rose garden which was something she would take great pleasure tending to every day. Joy wanted to make sure to thank all the priests, her friends, neighbors and everyone who took care of her, prayed for her, helped her in any way that she was very grateful to them and for them.
Services at a later date at Our Lady of the Lakes and interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
