SOMMERS, JOHN WESLEY, age 67, of Oxford, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022. He was born on December 19, 1954, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, son to the late William and Violet Sommers (nee Davenport). Loving husband of Debbie for 3 years; dear father of Kenneth (Dawn) Cooper, Shelly (Mike) Katto, Sheila Stankevitz, James (Karlie) Stutesman, Jeff (Lisa) Yott, Julie (Bob) Ellis and Paula (Ryan) Smith; proud grandfather of; Kaitlyn, Nathan, Zack, Tyler, Blake, Elisabeth, Brittany, Lexi, Tommy and Evelyn; great grandfather of James, brother of Linda (Mike) Finch and the late William Sommers; son-in-law of Georgia Compton.  John worked for General Motors for many years. He was an active member of the Pine Knob Missionary Baptist Church. He was also the Vice President of the Armor Bearers Motorcycle Ministry. John was also a member of the Shriners and Masons. In his spare time, he was a talented musician, who loved playing the banjo and guitar. He also enjoyed target shooting and exercising his 2nd amendment rights. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, 11:00 AM at Coats Funeral Home- Clarkston, 8909 Dixie Highway. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
