DIV " Arial; of Waterford, died June 4, 2012 at 90 years of age. Born of Chirstin Walther and Jorgen Christiansen Rosenkrands in Vejle, Denmark on March 21, 1922, Johannes "John" Walther Rosenkrands lived a very productive 90 years.DIV DIV " Arial; //DIV DIV " Arial; John loved life and lived it well. If everything that he accomplished and stood for was written here it would take many Ages. His dreams continually moved him forward. He was an ethical man of character, an engineer, musician, builder of large cathedrals from Lego blocks, carpenter, presenter, Bible study leader, inventor and adventurer (owning and piloting his Piper Cub airplane and Bayliner cruiser)./DIV DIV " Arial; //DIV DIV " Arial; In Denmark he worked for the motorcycle division of the Highway Patrol while he / " Arial; attended the university in Copenhagen studying engineering. He met the love of his life, Gudrun K. Olesen, in 1943. The were married April 7, 1944 while Denmark was still occupied by the Nazis. He loved the idea of building cars and moved his young family (wife and three children) to Detroit in December of 1952 to do just that. General Motors had the benefit of his employment and has utilizedmany of his patented ideas. He joined GM's Engineering Staff in 1953 as a chassis design engineer, and for many years developed new suspensions, drive lines, chassis and body structures. He designed and developed the first experimental Toronado/Eldorado. His most important patent was probably the Twist Axle Rear Suspension which in principle is used throughout the world on a large number of car models./DIV DIV " Arial; //DIV DIV " Arial; John worked his way up the GM ladder and in 1972 was named director of GM's Experimental Safety Vehicle Program. In 1977 John was named assistant chief engineer for Electric Vehicles at TAO Truck amp; Coach Division, and in 1980 became chief engineer for the division's Articulated Coach Program. Over the years he held many offices, led Bible studies, and substituted for the organist and the pastor when needed. He has both laughed and cried with his family and friends. He had a heart of gold, always giving.
