' Arial; "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA' "MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%" Arial; LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; Calibri"age 85, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Ortonville, Michigan, passed away on March 11, at Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center in Holt, Michigan. She was born June 20, 1929, in Constantine, Michigan. She was married to Richard Wilcox on June 15, 1951. She grew up in Brown City, Michigan where she graduated from high school. Joann earned a B.A. from Alma College. Upon graduation she taught school in Lake Orion. In 1960 she and Richard purchased The Reminder Shopping Guide in Goodrich, Michigan, and converted it to a weekly newspaper with the main office located in Ortonville. The next several years Joann spent helping to operate the newspaper as well as raise five children. Later in life she became an advocate for libraries having served as President of the Oakland County Library Association, and then the Michigan Association of Libraries. She spent much of her time lobbying legislators in Lansing and Washington D.C. in an effort to obtain more funding for local and regional libraries. In her spare time she loved to travel. She and Richard traveled abroad on numerous occasions including to exotic destinations in Africa and Asia. They retired to Bonita Bay, Florida in 1990, and later, The Villages. In Michigan and in Florida, Joann was active in the United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by loving husband, Richard. Joann is survived by five children; Richard Michael (Teresa) of Harrison, Mi. and Lanett, Al., Sandra (Tim) Wagner of Climax, Mi., Marcia (Artis) White of Lansing, James (Mary) Wilcox of Ortonville, and Susan (Michael) Delp of Clearwater, Fl. She has eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /
