Obituary

Joan Lea Fleming, ("Joanie") passed away on February 10, 2024, in Clarkston, Michigan. She was born on February 26, 1932, in Pontiac, Michigan. Joan was a very God-loving woman who was devoted to her Catholic Faith. She loved her family unconditionally and had countless number of friends. One of her favorite activities was going for walks, cooking dinners for anyone she loved and enjoying the company of others. She was also a devoted Aunt to numerous nephews and nieces and loved attending all their birthday parties, dance recitals, graduations, etc. She was the best chocolate chip cookie maker ever and shared them with everyone!

Joan is survived by her children, Stephen Fleming (Sherry), Mark Fleming (Laura), Michael Fleming (Katie Birmingham). Also, her siblings, James Strong (late Sandy), Dave Strong (Pat), Janice Cudnohufsky (Jerry), Phillip Strong (Lynne), and Janet Strong (Duaine DeBusk). She had 7 wonderful grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Fleming, her daughter Denise Sharum, her brothers Jerry Strong, John (Bud) Strong (Naomi) and her parents Lynn and Dorothy Strong.

Special friend of Linda Hoagland and her three wonderful daughters, Katie, Jennifer, and Jackie.

In her early years, Joan attended St. Michaels in Pontiac both primary and high school education. Before her marriage, she worked, but after becoming a mother, she dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom. Joan was actively involved in all her children's school activities and became a prominent member of the Pontiac Catholics Mom's and Dad's Club. She was also a long-time member of the Pontiac Lioness Club and an active member of Our Lady of The Lakes Church. Joan was a valued member of the funeral luncheon team at her church and cherished the camaraderie of the wonderful ladies on the team. For those who wish to make contributions in Joan's memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Joanie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. May she rest in eternal peace.
