CORKINS, JERRY LEROY, of Waterford, MI passed away April 15, 2021 at 84 years of age. Born September 18, 1936 in Tyrone, Oklahoma; son of the late Bernise Lee and Elizabeth Corkins (nee Hamilton); beloved husband of Elaine Marie Corkins (nee Johnson) for 61 wonderful years; cherished father of Sheryl (Ken) Hermanson, Lori Corkins, Kay Corkins, Raymond Corkins and Anthony Corkins; loving grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 5; Jerry is survived by brother Dale (Claudine) Corkins and is preceded in death by siblings: Faye Clark, May Oxenreider, Marie Clark, Gary Corkins and Bobby Corkins; dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews. After high school Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic. He continued his education and received an associate's degree at Oakland Community College. He retired after working over 30 years at General Motors. Jerry was a man of faith who attended St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Waterford, along with his wife Elaine. He was active in his community in the Knights of Columbus and in his free time, he enjoyed painting. Jerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends and community. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Benedict's Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
