BELCHER, JANIE LEE, age 86 of Prattville, Alabama (formerly of Clarkston, Michigan) passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. She was born on May 11, 1937 in Russellville, Kentucky to late parents John and Minnie (Shephard) Douglas. Janie retried from GM after 30 years of dedicated service. She was an avid golfer, loved watching her TV shows, and was a huge animal lover – especially her cats. Janie loved Christmas and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a loving, devoted mother and a strong woman who raised six boys all on her own. Janie is survived by her sons: David (Diane Lindsay) Belcher, Rickey (Michelle) Belcher, Bobby Ray Belcher, and Roger (Annie) Belcher; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and daughters-in-law: Sharon Belcher and Belinda Belcher. She was preceded in death by sons: Jeff Belcher and Mike Belcher; siblings: Elsie Morrison, Chester Douglas, Gilmer Douglas, Agnes Hughes, Ethel Greene, Jamie Douglas, Dorothy Rosser, Ruby Norris, and Lucy Douglas. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, December 29, 2023 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON. Family will receive visitors two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11am. Interment at Ottawa Park Cemetery. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Ring 14 or Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control in honor of Janie.
