SCHEMEL, JAMES LEE, age 82 of Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born on February 28, 1939 in Mt. Clemens to parents Fred "Fritz" and Mabel Schemel. Jim retired from GM in 1996 after 36 years of service. He enjoyed many outdoor activities like gardening, feeding and watching the squirrels and birds, but most of all he loved his lawn tractor. Jim was a car enthusiast and enjoyed working on and watching cars and attending the Dream Cruise. He spent his time selflessly helping take care of a neighbor for several years and helping out with others lawns. He also liked to reminisce and tell stories about growing up on a small farm, a place where he gained his love for all kinds of animals. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Beth Schemel; children: Lee Ann Schemel and John Edward Schemel; cousin, Dorothy Ryskamp. He was preceded in death by both parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends: Howard Schluessler and Howard Ryskamp. Jim will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Michigan Humane Society in honor of Jim. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
