McFARLAND, JAMES MATTHEW, age 85, of Pontiac, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022. He was born November 29, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Paul C. and Edith Lavon McFarland (nee Schooley). James graduated from Troy High School in 1955. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in business from Central Michigan University. He managed the Oakland County Juvenile court until 1993. James was the President of the Troy School Board where he was instrumental in the planning and organization of the development of Troy Athens High School. He enjoyed puzzles, fishing, and sailing on Otsego Lake. James will be lovingly remembered by his children Julie (Michael) Espinoza and Thomas (Julie Wright) McFarland. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul K. (Pam) McFarland and John W. (Barbara) McFarland. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
