HARTSOCK, JAMES "RICH" R., age 76 of Clarkston, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2023. He was born on December 30, 1946 in Pontiac to the late James H. and Mae (Barnett) Hartsock. Rich attended Wilson Elementary School, Eastern Junior High, Pontiac Central, and graduated from Clarkston High School in 1965. When he was younger he worked at the Pontiac Boys Club, Coca Cola Bottling in Pontiac, and Mobil Oil Training Center in Birmingham on Woodward. He later hired into General Motors Truck Division in 1966, working in management for 25 years in the materials management group and retired in 1996 after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement he moved to the Caribbean Island of Margarita, Venezuela where he lived and played for 18 happy years. In 2014 he returned to Lake Orion to be with his family. He was an avid Indy car and NASCAR fan for over fifty years and will be remembered for his love of the world of outlaw. Rich is survived by his son, Kenneth Richard Hartsock, daughter, Stacy Stewart; sister, Phyllis (Dave) O'Connor; and niece, Dianne O'Connor. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
