MOSES, JACQUELINE “JACKIE” (née Carroll) of Waterford, passed away on October 2, 2026, at 98 years of age. Loving wife of the late Leonard L. Moses for 61 years; cherished mother of Randy (Linda) Moses, Susan (Ronald) Dunlap, Garry (Kim) Moses, and Carolyn (William) Gross; proud grandmother of 18 and great-great-grandmother of 35. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Henry L. and Gertrude (nee Moody) Carroll, and her siblings Shirley McCarthy, Jerry Carroll, Judith Carroll, Beverley Delke, and Kenneth Carroll.
Jackie was the oldest of six children, born in Oxford, Michigan. She and her beloved husband, Leonard, made their home in Waterford, where they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories. Being a mother was one of Jackie's greatest sources of pride. She devoted herself to her children, making sure they were cared for, loved, and always dressed nicely. Having grown up with limited means, Jackie developed an appreciation for looking her best without needing anything extravagant. She carried herself with quiet class and tried to make sure her children did the same.
Soft-spoken and reserved, Jackie may not have been the loudest person in the room, but she had a strength and determination all her own. She was a modern woman long before it was fashionable to be one, especially when it came to home improvement. Give Jackie a project, and she wasn't afraid to roll up her sleeves, pick up a hammer and saw, and get to work. She tackled remodeling projects herself, including renovating her basement and adding a bedroom. Apparently, she understood that sometimes the best person for the job was the person who lived in the house—and Jackie was perfectly capable of getting it done!
Jackie also had a creative and artistic side. She enjoyed painting, basket weaving, and crocheting, finding pleasure in working with her hands and turning simple materials into something beautiful. Whether she was creating something for her home or working on a project just for the enjoyment of it, she had a natural appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity.
Among Jackie's treasured collections were her owls, which seemed to reflect her own personality. Like the owl, Jackie was quiet and observant, taking in the world around her in her own thoughtful way. She didn't need to draw attention to herself to make an impression. Her love, dependability, and quiet determination spoke for her.
Jackie's life was defined by the family she raised, the home she helped build, and the countless ways she cared for those she loved. She created a foundation of love and stability that would extend through generations, growing into a family of 18 grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren. What a remarkable legacy for a woman whose greatest pride was being a mom.
At 98, Jackie leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her quiet strength, her timeless sense of style, her creative talents, and her determination to do things her own way. She showed her family that love is often found in the everyday things—in a well-cared-for home, children dressed with pride, a handmade creation, or the willingness to pick up a tool and tackle a challenge.
Jackie will be deeply missed, but her influence will live on in the generations she nurtured and the family she loved so dearly. Her life was a beautiful reminder that strength doesn't always have to be loud, elegance doesn't have to be extravagant, and a mother's love can shape a family for generations to come.
