of Troy, MI and previously of Ft. Myers FL, died September 1, 2017, at 88 years of age. Beloved husband of Joan for 60 years; loving father of Wayne, Brian (Tracy), Paul and Glenn; dearest grandfather of Stephen and Kristin; dear brother of the late Margaret Boutell Haseltine.p pJudge Carr was born on March 13, 1929, in Lansing, MI, to Herbert and Pherne Carr. He grew up in Detroit and is a graduate of Detroit Cooley High School. He attended the University of Michigan, where he was active in the marching band and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to earn a graduate degree in retailing at the University of Pittsburgh before serving in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant during the Korean war. Following his service in the navy, he worked for the Ford Motor Company while attending law school at night at the Detroit College of Law.p pUpon graduation from law school, he worked as an Assistant Oakland County Prosecutor and as a Justice of the Peace. He then worked as an attorney for many years and was a founding partner at the law firm of Powell, Peres, Carr, Jacques, Batchik, Schmidt and Isgrigg, in Pontiac, MI. In 1981, he was appointed judge of the 51supst/sup District Court by Michigan Governor William Milliken. He was re-elected twice to that position and retired in 1993 after 12 years of service as a judge.p pJudge Carr and his wife Joan were active members of Clarkston United Methodist Church. He was also active in Kiwanis and in the Optimist Club of Waterford, where he served as president. Several years after retiring, Judge Carr and Joan moved to live full-time in Fort Myers, FL, where they attended Cypress Lake United Methodist Church regularly. In November, 2015, they returned to live in Michigan once again.
