HANK' of Waterford, passed away October 31, 2017 at 94 years of age. Loving husband of Ruth Alene (nee Newman) for 68 years; father of Mark Erwin Karwas, Tucson, AZ, Marta Suzanne (Gary) Slocum, Lake Ann, MI, and Marcia Ruth (Bobbi Bonace) Karwas, Lake Angelus, MI; grandfather of Nicklaus (Jessica) Karwas Slocum and Joseph (Cynthia Brandon) Karwas Slocum; special great grandfather of Joshua, Grace, and Audrey Slocum; brother of Fred (Wanda) Karwas. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Antoinette Karwas; brother, Richard Joseph Karwas. Survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who will all cherish memories of the lake and sliding parties. Preceded in death by: in laws Ward and Della Newman; sister in law Wilma (Lyle) Saum; brothers in law, Max (Marge) Newman, Erwin (Betty) Newman, Wesley (Thelma) Newman, and Ward (Maxine) Newman; niece Ruth Ann Robinson, nephew John Saum, and great nephew Michael Saum. Hank was a 3 letter man and graduate of Jackson High School; Western Michigan University, Wayne State University, and a veteran of the US Marine Corp WWII. He served the parents and students of the Waterford School District for over 30 years as an elementary school principal for Jayno Adams and Grayson schools. Henry enjoyed many sports throughout his life including blooper ball, playing poker, and golf. He also enjoyed duck hunting, and deer hunting with his grandsons.
