SCHNEID, HELMUT HORST, age 84, of Waterford, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. Helmut was born on December 12, 1938, in Mainz, Germany to parents Blasius and Therese (Köck) Schneid. Helmut completed trade school in Germany, working as a Volkswagen mechanic, foreman, and manager in multiple dealerships. His extensive knowledge ultimately lead him to Motor Magazine where he translated and edited repair manuals for German autos. Helmut loved attending the Woodward Dream Cruise with his 1969 Volkswagen Beetle every year. He was able to fix anything and was affectionately called, Mr. Fix It. Proud husband of Beverly for 60 years; Father of Tracey (Bryan) Shaner; Grandfather of Jessica (Stephen) Simpson, Melissa (Alex) Shaner, and Matthew (Olivia) Shaner. Helmut was the loving Great Grandfather to 5 beautiful children;  Evan and Charlotte Simpson;  Madelyn, Margaret, and Miley Shaner. Brother of Elisabeth Rohrmaier, Martha Botzler, and the late Erika Allmeier. Also mourning the loss of Helmut is Sister-in-law Sandra Pelzman and Godson David Heatley.  A celebration of life to be held at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers and gifts please make a donation in Helmut's name to St Jude Children's Hospital or your local animal shelter.
