Obituary

DWIRE, HARRY D. of Holly, passed away October 13, 2025, at 84 years of age. Born in Park Rapids, Minnesota to loving parents, Donald and Agnes (née Kaluza) Dwire in 1940. Beloved husband of Carol  (née MacAlpine) for 62 wonderful years. Cherished father of Jeff (Karen) Dwire, Colleen (David) Schneider, and Craig (Brandi) Dwire. Proud grandfather of Katelyn, Hayley, Zachary (fiancée Caitlin), Kierstin (Andrew), Marshall, and Lila-Reay; and great-grandfather of Finnley and Delilah. Dear brother of the late Margaret (Ed) Erickson and the late Duane Dwire.

Harry was a 1959 graduate of Waterford Township High School. Before his senior year, he completed Navy boot camp and, following graduation, proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he returned home and was running with the MacAlpine boys- under unusual circumstances he would meet their sister Carol. In 1962, Harry and Carol married and together they built a loving home in Clarkston, where they raised their family and attended Community Presbyterian Church.

Harry spent his career with General Motors in skilled trades, mastering everything from welding to cutter grinding, and ultimately retiring as a medal model maker, a position he truly enjoyed and was like a kid in a candy store at work.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Harry found joy in skiing—cross-country and earning medals in downhill. Never one to stay indoors he could often be found gardening, mowing the lawn, and camping. He never missed a workout at the gym and loved the freedom of the open road on his two Harleys and Gold Wing motorcycles. Known for his friendly spirit, bright smile, and zest for life, Harry greeted each morning early with a splash of cold water, a grin, and enthusiasm for the day ahead. He loved to dance—especially to his favorite song, Celebration by Kool & the Gang—and he was never short on dance partners. He will be deeply missed by the "Celebration" he brought to all of our lives.  Memorial service will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON. Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 PM. In Harry's memory and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a veteran charity of your choice. To post a tribute, visit www.CoatsFuneralHome.com.
