GARRETT, GERALD DAVID, commonly known as "Jerry" and "Pops", passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 81 years old. Jerry was born on April 24, 1941, in Detroit Michigan to parents Lewis and Dorothy (Becker) Garrett. Proud father of Greg (Kellie) Garrett, Lisa Garrett, Drew (Lisa Ann) Garrett; Loving grandfather of Trevor Garrett, Tyler Garrett, Shannon Hendry, Karlie Hendry, Elisabeth Garrett, and Myles Garrett; Cherished brother of Barbara (the late Roy) Shoemaker, Jean Garrett, the late Paul Garrett, the late Alan Garrett, and the late John Garrett. Jerry is also survived his ex-wife, Barbara Ann Garrett. After Jerry's service in the Army, Jerry had graduated from trade school and went on to own his own business, Cannon Fire Protection. Jerry was also a member of the Sprinkler Fitters Local 704 Union in Detroit, Michigan. In his spare time, Jerry could be found watching sports, gambling, gardening, and woodworking. Jerry especially loved to host family parties and to spend time with his family. Jerry was loved by many and will be missed deeply. A funeral service will be held at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 3:00pm. The Garrett Family will accept visitors beginning 30 minutes prior to the service at 2:30 and then resuming after the service until 8:00pm. A private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's name to the Children's Miracle Network, Alcoholics Anonymous, or the Disabled American Veterans.
