MONTGOMERY, GARY MICHAEL of Clarkston born July 1, 1963 passed away May 7, 2021 at 57 years of age. Beloved grandson of the late Lillie Christine Wilson and Jesse Wilson. Preceded in death in April 2021 by his mother, Lillie Jean Barnett. Survived by his step-father, Dwight Barnett, his father, Michael Montgomery (Barbara), his daughter Kate A. Glazier (Casey), his former wife, Lisa Montgomery (Matt), his brother, Matthew Montgomery (Joanna), his sister, Melanie Wilson (Andy), his sister, Crystal Montgomery-Naboychik (John), his sister Tiffany Browning (Brian), his step-siblings Chad Deal (Angie), Cindy Hundley (Aaron) and Kevin Barnett (Toni), as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Gary was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving 5 years as a Staff Sergeant in Zweibrücken, Germany. He was awarded the commendation medal as well as many other awards for his service. Gary practiced martial arts and was the National and World Taekwondo and Tang Soo Do Champion in 2001. He achieved the rank of 7th Dan Black Belt. Gary was a member of the Alumni Board at Finlandia University (Suomi College). He had a passion for the music and film industry and was an Executive Producer on the 2004 film The Brewster Project. Gary loved his daughter and traveling the world, having adventures in all of Europe, the Americas, India, and the Caribbean. He is loved and will be missed deeply by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 17, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Shalom Baptist Church. Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
