Gary Lynn Clement, age 79, was born on April 9, 1947, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Jack Clement and the late Patricia Ann Clement.
Gary’s story of love began nearly 62 years ago when, while working as a manager of a miniature golf course, “Putt Putt”, in his younger years, he met Faye, who would become the love of his life. After four years of dating, the two were married on December 14, 1968, beginning a marriage built on genuine love, unwavering friendship, and shared values. Together, they created a lifetime of memories and a family that would become Gary’s greatest source of pride.
Gary went on to build a remarkable career with General Motors, where he dedicated 44 years of service before retiring. Never one to stop learning, Gary placed great value on education and continued his studies while working at GM. His dedication and determination led him to earn a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and ultimately a Ph.D. in Engineering. His passion for knowledge extended beyond his own accomplishments, as he later shared his expertise teaching at Oakland Community College. Gary also secured two patents for software programs, leaving behind a legacy of ingenuity, hard work, and intellectual curiosity.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Gary’s greatest achievement was the family he and Faye raised together. He was a proud father to his two daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Nepjuk and Holly (Todd) Moss. His pride and love only grew with each addition to the family, as he became a cherished grandfather to Jacob Moss, Andrew Nepjuk, Lauren Nepjuk, Savannah Moss, Delaney Moss, and Brandon Nepjuk.
Gary also had a special place in his heart for the family dogs, always wanting a four-legged companion in their home. The newest addition, a sweet mini Bernedoodle named Ivy Rose, was no exception.
Gary will be remembered for his lifelong love of learning, his dedication to his career, and, above all, the love and friendship he shared with those closest to him. After nearly 62 years of building a life together, Faye will deeply miss her husband, her best friend, and the love of her life. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
A funeral service honoring Gary’s life will be held at Coats Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Family will welcome friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
