BLIMKA, FLORENCE MARIE of Clarkston, passed away February 22, 2020 at the age of 102. She was born on February 5th 1918 in Swartz Creek, Michigan the first of ten children of the late Patrick and Gertrude Flood. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Everett Blimka for 36 years; loving mother of Connie (Ron) Roy, Kathryn (the late Charles) Ivey, Leo (Delene) Blimka, Rick (Pat) Blimka and Pete (Jennifer) Blimka; proud grandmother of Michele, Dan, Julie, Andrew, Sara, Lisa, Chris, Kim, Kristen, Cindy, Mitch, Valerie, Robin, Joy, Tiffany, Chelsea, Bridgette; dearest great grandmother of Justin, Sam, Marlowe, Sarah, Garett, Jared, Bryce, Emma, Allie, Corrine, RJ, Christopher, Valerie, Stanley, Jordan, Damian, Kaitlyn and Noah; cherished great great grandmother of Olivia, Brooklyn, Allison, and Colton; survived by siblings Keith (Kay) Flood, Joan (Louie) Gelow, sister-in-law Joan Flood; predeceased by siblings Jack Flood, Dorothy (Wally) Bouck, Leo Flood, Mike (Verlee) Flood, Pat (Della) Flood, Joe (Joan) Flood, Clark Flood, Ruth Flood; aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.Florence married the love of her life, Lloyd, in 1938 and shared 36 beautiful years with him until he passed in 1974. Before he passed, they were both very involved parents, and together they taught their children from a young age how to enjoy the wonders of nature. They also taught them how to ice skate and to be well rounded individuals. Florence was very skilled and held many different occupations such as dance instructor, real estate agent, school bus driver, waitress and poet. Her most known talent was her artistry which she practiced in her 60's and into her 90's. Prior to that, she wrote poems and sketched. Her artwork was well known and loved by the public. She was in the Oakland Press, juried and judged in many different well known featured art galleries. She sold many pieces to the public. She was a member of the Starving Artist group out of Clarkston, Michigan. Florence and her son, Pete, loved visiting different museums all around the United States. Their favorite art shows were the ones in Detroit and local displays throughout Oakland County. Florence was very involved with her community and served on the census board for Clarkston, Township property tax board of appeals, volunteered at nursing homes, and taught art from her own home well into her 90's. While working in the Real Estate industry helping others to buy and sell homes, she also served on the township property tax board of appeals. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Lakes Church and the Clarkston Fraternal Order of Eagles where she served every office except madam president. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and taking them camping in their RV as often as they could. The children's most favorite memories with their mom were going to Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Wally's family compound in Caseville, Michigan on Lake Huron. She had a larger than life spirit and was not afraid to speak her mind when she thought it necessary. She traveled the world and remembers one of her bus trips to Czechoslovakia where she stood up to an armed guard who denied their entry. When Florence was home, she would tend her garden and make anything grow. Florence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
