Evelyn Maura Edwards, age 15, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Evelyn was a sweet and gentle soul who unfortunately faced many health challenges, but her persevering spirit and love of life earned her many lifelong friendships as well as academic excellence. A student at Waterford Mott High School, Evelyn carried straight A's and had been a member of National Junior Honor Society. She enjoyed painting, dances and sleepovers with her friends, jet skiing and playing Roblox and Minecraft with her sisters. She also loved animals and the family's many pets, including her two special canine buddies Bella and Max.  She greatly enjoyed a trip to Walt Disney World with her family in August 2022, and may be the only quadriplegic girl ever to ride all the attractions except for one – including rollercoasters. Evelyn was preceded in death by grandparents William and Mildred Edwards, and grandfather John Pylat Jr.  She is survived by her parents, Martin and Laura Edwards; her sisters Eleanora and Georgia Edwards; her grandmother, Lois Pylat; aunts Beth Edwards and Lori Barnicoat (Robert); her uncle William Edwards Jr. (Stephanie); two cousins and many, many wonderful friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Rochester Hills. Father Gerry LeBoeuf officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4-8pm at Coats Funeral Home - Waterford, and again on Saturday at church, one half hour prior to mass, beginning at 10:30am. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Michigan Animal Rescue League in honor of Evelyn.
