She and her sister Sheila spent the majority of their youth in Waterford, MI graduating from Waterford Township High School. Elaine loved competitive roller skating and the Drama Club. Shortly after graduating, she went to work at Pontiac Motor Corporation in the secretarial pool where she added many life-long friends to the list from her school days, and developed a knack for office management. p "margin: 0in 0in 8pt;"Elaine married Gregory Raft in 1957, and together they had three daughters, Pamela (Raft) Batcho (Tim), Lisa (Raft) Douglas, and Jill (Raft) Christian (Paul). They moved to West Bloomfield, MI in 1965 where Elaine was fortunate to be able to remain at home and raise the girls until the youngest went into elementary school. Elaine then returned to the workforce where she became an office manager for Dale Carnegie, as well as other manufacturing and retail companies."margin: 0in 0in 8pt;"Elaine loved gardening and flowers but her greatest joy was found in her family. Pam, Lisa and Jill gave her five grandchildren: Eric McGuigan (Jennifer), Annie (McGuigan) Fenton (Michael), Kyle Christian, Lauren Douglas and Jenna Douglas. Those grandchildren have brought four great-grandchildren into her life so far: Hannah Keller McGuigan, Liam McGuigan, Cora Fenton and Oona Fenton. Her favorite activity was any time the family got together or when she received calls or texts from them.p
