MITCHELL, ELAINE O., of Livonia and Waterford, passed away Thursday April 16, 2020 at 88 years of age. Born on July 27, 1931 in Deerton, Michigan, the daughter of the late Albert and Olga Maki. Beloved wife of the late John Mitchell; loving mother of Susan (Keith) Switzer, Carol (Gary) Kennedy and Lori Merollis; dearest grandmother of Jennifer (Darin), Christina, Gary, Justin, Angela (Mike), Jill, Stephanie and Brendan; great grandmother of Ilee, Clara, Kennedy, Gabriella and Johnny. She is preceded in death by many brothers and sisters; survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Elaine grew up in a large family in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She moved to lower Michigan, where she married, raised a family and retired after many years as a bus driver in the Livonia Public School District. She was also a long time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waterford. A private family service will be held later this year in the Upper Peninsula.
