BOONE, EDWARD OWEN HANSON of Waterford, passed away on December 24, 2022 with his family by his side at the age of 86.  Edward (Eddie) was born on February 9, 1936 to Irving and Eileen (Hanson) Boone and was raised on the family farm in Ashland, New Brunswick Canada.  As a teenager he met the love of his life Betty while picking strawberries in Rockland, NB.  Eddie graduated from Hartland High School and soon after, he and Betty were married on May 25, 1957 and started their family.  As a young man, Eddie wanted a better life for the people he loved so he traveled to the United States in 1958 and found work.  Shortly after, his family then joined him in Michigan. Eddie became a truck driver in the gravel industry and eventually took the chance and bought his own truck.  After hard work and perseverance, he grew his fleet up to 3 trucks.  Boones Express LLC was then founded in 1972 by Eddie and his wife Betty.  Boones Express quickly developed an honest and reliable reputation within the gravel industry.  When Eddie retired in 1998, his daughter Cindy and her husband Matt stepped in to carry on that commitment.  Additionally, his son Tony and his grandson Edward drive gravel trains for the family business, while his granddaughter Raquel works in the office. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Boones Express LLC.  In his spare time, Eddie liked to gamble at casinos (especially Las Vegas, Windsor and Motor City).  Eddie enjoyed taking his Cadillac on the open road and driving fast.  He shared his love for donuts with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In his free time, he enjoyed watching all sports and boating on Lake Oakland with his family.  Loving father of Tony (Cindy Lu) Boone, Tammy (Randy) Baker, and Cindy (Matt) Vince; Proud Grandfather of Sarah (Alan), Derek (Natalie), Raquel, Taylor, Emily (Matt), and Edward; Dear Great-Grandfather of Owen, Roy, Ruby, and Emmett, and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews in New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and Maine.  Eddie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty; his siblings (Geraldine, George, Ron, Kenny and Kenneth); brother-in-law (Ernest Campbell), and his parents.  The Boone family will accept visitors on Thursday, January 5, 2023, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at COATS FUNERAL HOME - WATERFORD on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. (visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service).
