MATHEWS, DOUGLAS JOHN, of Waterford, passed away March 13, 2020 at 53 years of age. Born June 8, 1966 in Pontiac, Michigan, son of Jennie Lou and the late Douglas Frank Mathews; loving longtime partner of Peggy Leonowicz for 27 years; proud father of Douglas Frank Mathews; dearest brother of Teresa Shipp, James (Pamela) Shipp and Sid Mathews; he had many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Douglas met his lifelong sweetheart Peggy when he and his family moved back from Tennessee as a kid. He graduated from Waterford Mott High School in 1984. His great love for the outdoors kept him busy; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles with his beloved son Douglas aka "Doug bug"; he would spend lots of time up at deer camp in Mio and in the thumb area of Michigan. He adored animals and had a few pets over the years. Douglas will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Due to the Coronavirus and per recommendations by the CDC and the National Funeral Directors Association, all visitations and funerals will be private for immediate family only, until further notice.
