of Clarkston, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at 83 years of age. Doug was born on September 4, 1936 in Pontiac, Michigan, son to the late Arthur and Hilda Birkett. Loving husband of the late Arnelia for 47 years; dear father of Mary (Mark) Biernaczonek and Susan (Matthew) Mallia; proud grandfather of Scott (Khalla Briggs) Schultz, Nicholas (Amber) Schultz, Marisa Biernaczonek, Marley Biernaczonek and Taylor Mallia; great grandfather of Benjamin and Aubree; uncle of Teresa Withrow and Carol Stone and their families; preceded in death by his beloved sister Dorothy Brown and niece Kathy Harden. Douglas served his county proudly in the United States Army in the early 1960s. He worked for Michigan Bell for 34 years. In his spare time he enjoyed vintage cars and antiques. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Independence Township Library or the American Diabetes Association.
