of Waterford, died February 16, 2016 at 83 years of age. Loving wife of Nicholas 'Nick'; beloved mother of Kim (Raymond) Brown, the late Peggy (Todd) Johnson, and Brian Menghini; grandmother of Jill (Steve), Jennifer (Justin), Sarah (Jim), Michelle (Lawrence), and Mendy (Terry); great grandmother of 13; sister of Joan (Dick) Jacobs and John Lustick. Dorothy was the first born daughter of Slovenian immigrants who worked in logging camps before settling in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and named their town, Traunik, after the place they came from in Europe. She grew up in this small farming community, attending a two-room school and helping her father in his Ford tractor sales and service garage. She later attended Northern Michigan College in Marquette, graduating with an associates degree in elementary education. She met her husband of 62 years in college, Nick, and was married on December 26, 1953. Dorothy spent the majority of her life taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoyed 25 years of retirement, wintering in Florida. She loved staying active by enjoying the outdoors, golfing, exercising and spending time with her family and friends.
