ppassed away in Waterford, Michigan, on September 21, 2018. She was born January 13, 1928 in Riverside, Ontario to Jonena (nee MacArthur) and Stuart Kennedy. She attended the University of Western Ontario and nursing school at Victoria Hospital. After graduation, she worked at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she would meet and marry Walter. They would live in California for a brief time, followed by a move to Big Rapids, Michigan, where she was the first nurse in the Ferris Institute Health Service. Their final move, Kalamazoo, where Maxine spent her time raising their children; active in the Newcomersrsquo; Club; member of various bridge groups; serve as a Girl Scout leader for many years; and active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She taught at the Kalamazoo Practical Nursing School; worked at the Upjohn Nursing Home; and later, a visiting nurse for Homemakers. For a good portion of her life she valiantly dealt with MS and was involved in the local chapter of the MS Society. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter, in 2010; survived by children Bryan (Jeannie) Reed, Cam McCaffrey, and Patti (Joe) Amalfitano; grandchildren Misty Reed, Jonathan (Jennifer) Reed, Ian McCaffrey, Erin (Ray) Morency, Grace Amalfitano, Kathryn Amalfitano and Angela Amalfitano; great grandchildren, Jillian Reed, Jake Reed, and Raymond Morency IV.p
