of Clarkston, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday January 5, 2019 at 92 years of age. Born in Detroit April 9, 1926, son to the late Leo and Eleanor Smith. Beloved husband of Marilyn for 70 years; loving father of Bruce (Dorothy) Smith and Dave (Rochelle) Smith; proud grandfather of Derek (Emily) and Matthew (Jessica); great grandfather of Audrey. Donald served his country proudly during WWII as a veteran of the U S Army Air Force. He earned degrees from Adrian College where he met his dearest wife, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan. He worked his entire professional career with the Waterford School District. He started as a teacher, a principal with Stringham, Lotus Lake and Manley, and eventually worked his way up to administration. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church of Waterford and was involved with the Waterford Elks. He also enjoyed boating and working in his apple orchard.
