MAPES, DEBORAH "DEBBIE" L., age 64 of Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. She was born on February 19, 1958 in Lapeer, Michigan to the late Kenneth and Cora Schon. Debbie was a lifetime dog lover and trainer. She was a junior showmanship judge and her passion for all things dogs also lead her to be involved in 4H and all facets of training. Debbie also loved to attend cars shows and her pride and joy was her Trans Am and Cadillac Eldorado. She had an appreciation for saltwater aquariums and spent many dedicated hours on them. She will be missed by all who knew her. Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dale McCleese; step-son, Michael McCleese; sister, Sandy (Melvin) Broecker, her service dog, Kylie, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Larry Barker, and brother, Jim Schon. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 2-8pm at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2:30pm on Friday, January 27, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Malinois Rescue in honor of Debbie.
