Mel' of Novi, formerly of Farmington Hills and Citrus Springs, FL, went home to be with the Lord, January 26, 2018, at 96 years of age. Beloved husband of Fran for 74 years; loving father of Charlotte (Bernie) Callahan, Darlyne (Dennis) Sikkila, Diane Jones, Debbie (Gary) Duncan, Terri (Scott) Cleary, Barbara (Jeff) Leffel and the late Sandra Kay; dearest grandfather of 21 and great grandfather fo 24. Also survived by his sister Lois Wilkerson, brother in law Bob Eichler and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers Ray and Houston and sisters Louise, Linda and Dorothy. Mel was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps., serving during World War II. He was a manager and supervisor with A amp; P Grocery Stores, retiring after many years of service. After retirement he opened his own grocery store Shop Right Foods; he also worked for Skipperrsquo;s Office Supply and Samrsquo;s Club. Mel was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club. He loved playing golf, ping pong, and Rook.
