of Waterford, passed away on February 12, 2016 at 95 years of age. Beloved husband of Barbara. Loving father of the late Linda Millsap and Norma Fleek. Dear grandfather of Matthew Strickland and Ryan Strickland. Dear brother of Muriel Jensen. Dear brother-in-law of Jack Whitter. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Discharged in Alaska, he became a noted public figure. He was elected the first Borough chairman of the greater Juneau area when Alaska first became a state. He later became directors of the Alcohol Beverage Control Board, the Housing and Urban Development Board and the Airport Leasing Board. He privately served as a board member of numerous charitable organizations. In retirement, he came to Michigan in 1984 and continued his community service.
