Obituary

HEICHEL, CARL WALTER, of Caseville and Fort Myers Beach, FL passed away October 20, 2021 at 82 years of age. Carl was born in Pontiac, Michigan, to parents Elmer and Patricia Heichel. Dear husband of the late Carole for 59 years; proud father of Kimberly (Robert) Gaynett, Carl Heichel, Richard (Vera) Bacon, Sheryl Bacon, and Lynda Martin; dear grandfather of Jeffrey, Jason, Melissa, Adam (Shy), Gary, Josh, Jordan (Deneil), Courtney, and Haylie; great-grandfather of Carson, Hazen, Zeplin, and Weston; brother of Janet Muxlow and Pat King; brother-in-law of George Steinbach, John Steinbach, Louise Campbell, and Margaret DeGroff; also, survived by his beloved dog, Bella.  Carl was a veteran of the US Marine Corp-Vietnam and was a general foreman for GM retiring in 1989 after 33 years of service. In his free time, Carl liked to golf, sing karaoke, collect Corvettes, and spend time with his family. Carl was a professional drag racer in the NHRA, holding several world records. He was comical, loved to pull pranks, and shared his love of horsepower with all his grandchildren. He was a "gear head" with the need for speed. The Heichel family will accept visitors on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 10:00AM-12:30PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON. Interment of Carl and Carole will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery following visitation. Carl was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Please keep Carl's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
