MONTNEY, BRUCE R. a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 70 years of age. Born to Donald and Ruth (née Hoyt) Montney on December 4, 1951 in Alma, MI. Bruce was a loving husband to Sherry (née Berridge) for forty-one years; dear father of Jeremy (Bethanie), Sean (Kaitlin), and Cara (Deepak); papa to twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and brother of Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Bruce grew up in Drayton Plains and attended Waterford Schools. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as a combat engineer in Wildflecken, Germany. By way of the GI bill, he attended Michigan State University and Wayne State University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts. In 1996 Bruce and his wife Sherry started the Montney Adult Foster Care Home inviting disabled and vulnerable adults to share their family home. Additionally, Bruce, along with his brothers Henry and Don, started Top Plate Carpentry where Bruce was a master carpenter. Together they built many custom homes throughout Oakland County. Bruce was known for his remarkable cooking, especially his homemade bread and bagels. He will forever be remembered for his astonishing intellect and constant curiosity. There was seldom a subject he wasn't fully prepared to discuss. He will be cherished for his enduring love of his family and friends.  In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able make a donation to the Leader Dogs for the Blind.
