BLAND, BILLY LEON, of Pontiac, passed away December 3, 2022 at 85 years of age. He was born on October 10, 1937 to loving parents the late Luther Dee and the late Thelma Louise Bland (nee Sheffield); loving husband of the late Sharon Mae Bland for 59 wonderful years; cherished father of Vincent Dee Bland, Cheryl Ann (the late Roger) Splude, Wayne Douglas (Jennifer) Bland, daughter in-law Sheila Bland, and son-in-law Ramiro Casarez and preceded in death by first son William Leon Bland, daughter Gayle Marie Bales, and daughter Lori Kay Casarez; proud grandfather of Misty (Paul) Gray, William (Kourtney) Bland, Breanna (Artemio) Hurtado, Stephen (Amy) Bland, Larry (Calsey Struble) Bland, Dylan (Taylor) Bland, Christopher (Sarah) Bales, Michael Splude, Joshua Splude, Ramiro Valentin, Orimar Casarez, Benita Casarez, Natasha Casarez, Tyler (Abby) Williams, Trevor (Natalie) Bland, Haley Bland, and Hannah Bland; preceded in death by all 5 of his siblings; uncle to many nieces and nephews. Billy worked at Ford as an electrical repairman for 35 years until he retired in 1992. Billy married one of the most beautiful women he had ever laid eyes on, Sharon, after the two of them were set up on a blind date together. A true baseball enthusiast, he coached his kids, would regularly attended their games and watch or listen to the tigers play on the radio. In his spare time, he loved to fish and he was an active member of the Moose Lodge #182. Billy will be dearly missed by all who loved him. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 12 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service. Burial will take place at Ottawa Park Cemetery, Clarkston. Memorials may be made in Billy's memory to the American Lung or American Kidney Associations.
