LEMASTER, BEVERLY ROSE, age 86 of Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. She was born in 1936 and was the sixth of what would be eight children of Tyne and Peter Kinnunen of Keweenaw Bay. The family moved a few miles up 41 to Arnheim where Beverly graduated from Baraga High School. She married the late Art Jalkanen and became a farmer's wife in Chassell. They left the farm and moved to the Detroit area in 1958. Her husband pursued his career and Beverly lovingly devoted herself to her children. When her children were grown, she continued her education receiving a Bachelor's degree from Oakland University. She was certified as a social worker and a teacher. Later in life she met and married Tom Lemaster. Together they traveled and lived in Northern Michigan, Texas, and Florida until his passing in 2013. Mom will be forever loved and missed by her grateful children: Art (Lisa) Jalkanen, Leif (Jennie Lynn) Jalkanen, Tim (Sue) Jalkanen, and Karen (Robert) Board. She is missed dearly by the apples of her eye, her grandsons: Alex and John Jalkanen. Beverly leaves behind her sisters: Pearl Rajala and Gloria Niemisto, and her brother, Pete Kinnunen. She was predeceased by her siblings: Roy Kinnunen, Pauline Ross, Myra Walitalo, and Elsie Kahila. Beverly was a good and faithful member of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in Waterford. She was active in her community and leaves behind many friends. A memorial service is planned for the future.
