ARNOLD, BETTY JANE "B.J." of Delray, Florida, formerly of Clarkston passed away March 27, 2023 at 80 years of age. Dear sister of Edgar (Barbara) Arnold of Plano, TX and Patricia (John) Ballantine of Sequin, TX; cousin of Louise Vittetoe of Waterford; and "like a mother" to Judy Ferguson of Delray, FL; aunt to many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Frances (née Cove); brothers, William, Rex, and Frank; sister, Susan McCarthy. Betty joined the US Army on May 10, 1960 and was stationed in Germany for her overseas tour. While in Germany she became the private secretary to the General of the Staff. By the end of her first tour she was an intel analyst and was sent to Vietnam where she continued her work as an intel analyst for the troops. She was discharged on October 13, 1964 after achieving the rank of SP5 E5 WAC. Upon her discharge she hired in as an Oakland County Sheriff and retired as a staff sergeant and an active member of American Legion Post 143, Auburn Hills. Betty "B.J." was dedicated to her country and served proudly at home and abroad. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11:30 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Hwy.  Burial follows at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly with military honors.
