Obituary

BELLOWS, BARBARA JEAN, age 78, of Lake Orion, formerly of Clarkston, went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2022. Barbara was born on November 24, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to parents Anthony and Joanna (Tafelski) Hale. Barbara lived in Detroit until she was in the 8th grade and then her family relocated to Waterford on Townsend Lake. She graduated from Waterford Township High School in 1961. She had an adventurous spirit, even at a young age; she enjoyed drag racing on old Woodward, hunting, dancing, and bowling. After high school, Barbara attended Business School and worked at the Oakland County Health Department for 15 years before retirement. She met the love of her life Jerry on a blind date.  They married on June 27, 1964 and spent 52 years loving years together.  After Jerry's death, Barbara took comfort in her two cats, Tiger and Shadow.  Barbara will be remembered for her love of cooking, especially for her famous Thanksgiving stuffing and her jello molds. Barbara was a wonderful wife and mother who was devoted to her family. She had a strong sense of faith and bestowed that on her children. She had a great love for gardening, reading, crafting, decorating for the holidays, and traveling. Barbara was the loving mother of Pamela (Scott) Lafoy-Wolff, Deborah (Rob) Romain, and Kevin Bellows; dear grandmother of Allysa Lafoy, Reilly Lafoy, Claire Romain, Nolan Romain, Griffin Romain, Spencer Stringer, Miya Wolff, Connor Wolff, Nohely Tarazon, Connie Tarazon, and Heidy Tarazon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Bellows; her sister, Elizabeth (John) Budnik; and her parents. Barbara was loved by many and will be missed deeply. A Funeral Mass will be held for Barbara on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11 AM (visitation beginning 30 minutes prior) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lake Orion (715 N Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion, MI 48362).
