HOOPER, BAERBEL of Waterford was called home by God suddenly June 6, 2023, at 82 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Jerry Hooper; cherished mother of Lynn (Jim) Cross; proud grandmother to one grandson; leaving behind her treasured dog.  We want to thank all the "wunderbar" friends and family for being part of her life. Barb was born on September 27, 1940 in Germany and was transferred to Detroit for her job as a secretary in the mid-60's. She first met her husband at their apartment complex's community dance in Troy, Michigan. "Frau Hooper" also taught German at St. Stephen's Lutheran School. In her free time, she loved traveling, visiting friends, gardening, painting, and all sorts of pets, but especially terriers. She was a very active volunteer at church, school, Girl Scouts, and numerous clubs. Her loss will be felt deeply, but as she would often say, "Well, what can you do?" A memorial service will take place on Friday July 14, 2023, at 10 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery (4200 Belford Rd., Holly).
