Ann Kinney Throop, age 92 of Clarkston, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. She was born on July 31, 1931 in Kingston, Rhode Island to parents Lorenzo and Elizabeth Kinney. Ann graduated from Stanford University with masters in statistics and mathematics. She was one of the first women hired by IBM as an engineer and retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Ann was a member of the Birmingham Unitarian Church for more than 50 years. She will be remembered by her many friends. Ann is survived by her daughters: Linda Louise Throop and Cynthia Hufnagel; grandchildren: Rachel Throop, Adam Throop, Bobby Hufnagel, Brian Hufnagel, Andy Hufnagel, Allison Hufnagel, and Mary Hufnagel; sister, Betty (Anthony) Faella. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband James W. Throop, son James Howard Throop, and brother Foster Kinney. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Birmingham Unitarian Church in Ann's honor. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Birmingham Unitarian Church (38651 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48304).  There will be a Reception at the church immediately following the service.
