DALTON, ALVA PEARLEEN, age 87 of Waterford, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was born on April 26, 1933 in Alarka Community, North Carolina to parents Granville and Della (Parris) Messer. Alva was a gifted artist, avid storyteller and the family jokester. She loved her cat Sookie, the Queen of the Baybrook castle. Feeding the squirrels and birds was a daily priority. Her planters were carefully planned to be as beautiful as budget allowed. Alva took pride in her work and lived a very humble life. Her generosity was unparalleled. She was grateful for her friendships and treasured everything that was given to her. Alva will be remembered by those who knew her for her lighthearted greeting, "I'm lazy and crazy!" Alva is survived by her son, Steve Dalton; daughter-in-law, Teresa Dalton; granddaughter, Emily (Elliott Mallen) Dalton; siblings: Carl (Susan Brownell) Messer, Floyd (Pamela) Messer, Alice (Joel) Waltz, Clara (Gary) Houstina, Samuel (Robin) Messer, Connie Campanaro, Ann (Ron) Clark; sister-in-law, Pat Messer; lots of beautiful nieces and nephews, her many cousins in North Carolina and treasured long-time friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Manuel Harold Dalton; son, John Robert Dalton; brother, Troy Messer. Private visitation and services will be held followed by interment at Perry Mount Park in Pontiac.
