Obituary

Alice Ann Bowman, age 89, of Warren, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. Born in Carney, Maryland, Alice the beloved daughter of first - generation Irish descendants Charles Joseph Sr. and Florence Lehrer. She grew up in Parkville and graduated from Parkville High School before beginning a remarkable life journey that eventually led her to Michigan, where she built a family and a legacy defined by love, resilience, and hard work. She was the oldest of seven siblings and helped raised them with love and care.

Upon settling in Michigan, Alice began her long and dedicated career with Central Transport, working as a switchboard operator for an astonishing 46 years until her retirement. Known for her steady work ethic and sharp mind, she was cherished by coworkers and friends alike. Alice met the love of her life, Marvin, and on July 16, 1970, they were married. In her free time, Alice embraced many passions. She was a devoted sports fan—nothing made her happier than watching her beloved Detroit Red Wings, followed closely by the Tigers. And if Detroit wasn't playing, she happily cheered on the Baltimore Orioles, always staying true to her roots.

Alice also enjoyed Bowling and Bowled in at least three leagues a season and also bowled Moon Light doubles on Saturdays. She loved her favorite place on the planet Las Vegas, and loved to play the Slots. Alice was also known for her delicious homemade treats, especially her famous booze-filled fruitcake and her comforting banana pudding. Gifted with a green thumb, Alice tended lovingly to her garden and roses. She took pride in keeping a welcoming, spotless home. Music was another lifelong love, and living on the outskirts of Detroit, she naturally gravitated toward classic Motown. Her home was often filled with the songs she adored—and the familiar sound of Fox News playing in the background. Beyond her work and hobbies, Alice even found time to sell Avon for 30 years, forming friendships within her community.

Alice leaves behind her son, Jeffrey (Debbie) Lewis whom they share a special bond;  her stepchildren: David (Maureen) Bowman, Michael Bowman, and Victoria Bowman. She was a proud and adored grandmother to Bradley (Lauren), Andrew (Nikki), Brittany (Frank),, and a loving great-grandmother to Logan, Jordan, Rachel, Stephen, and Cameron. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD (3141 Sashabaw). The family will receive guests from 10 AM, with memorial service starting at Noon
