Senior Grief Support Group

In 1977, we initiated one of the first widow support groups in Waterford, Michigan. Today, our Senior Grief Support Group helps seniors who have lost their spouse, family member, or friend by answering questions, diminishing fears, and helping them regain a sense of stability by meeting with others who experienced a similar deep loss in their lives.

Participation in group grief counseling is an excellent opportunity and can greatly help during the grieving process.

The group meets the second and the fourth Thursday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at:

Waterford Senior Citizen Center
3621 Pontiac Lake Road (between M-59 and Cass Lake Road)
Waterford, Michigan

Please call Coats Funeral Home for a brochure and more information.

Grief Counseling Information and Resources

To acquire more information on these support groups or for grief workshops on other topics, such as the loss of a child or suicide, please feel free to call us at Coats Funeral Home.

The Compassionate Friends is a self-help organization for families grieving the death of a child. The Lakes Area Chapter is a local chapter of this fine organization.  Individuals specialize in specific needs, such as the loss of a child through an auto accident, substance abuse, infant death, and trauma. Visit two available websites www.compassionatefriends.org or call toll-free 1-877-969-0010 for more information.

As at Coats Funeral Home, we believe that everyone should thoroughly investigate all aspects of funerals and arrangements before the need arises. Thus, at no cost, we are happy to provide a speaker to service clubs, church groups, lodges, or classrooms to present on any or all aspects of death, bereavement, and funerals including pre-arrangements and pre-financing of arrangements. We also can plan tours of our funeral home(s).
