The year was 1952, and vacationing Detroiters enjoyed Waterford, Michigan, as a growing destination. It was this year that the Waterford location of Coats Funeral Home opened, accommodating a business on the first floor and the Coats family residence on top.
Today, step into the 13,000 square-foot Waterford facility and behold its warm and comforting colors, reminiscent of stepping into someone’s nice home. Choose from three chapels/visitation rooms and two lounges, including two that are barrier-free on the first floor, and a third chapel on the second floor, called Sky Chapel (We have elevator service to second floor), with an attached kitchen/dining room ideal for lunches/dinners.
At Waterford’s Coats Funeral Home, our nine full-time and ten part-time staff will welcome and guide you towards planning the services and choosing the mementos to honor your loved one. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows for DVD tributes and also webcasting of services, to enable those not in attendance to watch it live and view it up to 90 days afterwards.
