Local Grief Support Group

After the death of a loved one, life can seem uncertain and hopeless.  Learning to cope with the trials ahead and regaining a sense of hope is the goal of our grief support groups.

Coats Funeral Home initiated one of the first widow support groups in Waterford in 1977. Today, "Senior Grief Support Group" helps those who have lost their spouse, family member or friend by answering many of their questions, diminishing the many fears and helping them regain a sense of stability by meeting with others who have experienced a similar deep loss in their lives. The group meets at the Waterford Senior Citizen Center, 6455 Harper, Waterford the second and the fourth Thursday of the month from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Call Coats Funeral Home for a brochure.

A second group sponsored by Coats Funeral Home is "Road to Grief Recovery." This group meets twice a month on the first and third Monday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The sessions are for anyone of any age who has suffered a loss. Meetings take place at the Community Presbyterian Church, 4301 Monroe at Sashabaw Road across from the funeral home.
